Mystery Twins newest 7” single “TV Talk” not only brings us a fuzz-bass floor pounding song about our relationship with Television, it utilizes the physical packaging to animate the front cover, adding another layer to the experience. Designed by Bryce McCloud of Isle of Printing and Mystery Twins Singer/Guitarist Doug Lehmann, the 7” packaging creates the illusion of movement as you pull the record out of the jacket. The inner sleeve consists of a two frame animation combined into one image, the outer sleeve features laser-cut “scan lines” inside the TV graphic. As the inner sleeve is pulled out of the jacket, the laser cut lines allows the eye to see only one frame at a time, pulling it out alternates the frames and animates the cover.
The music was Produced and Recorded by Lehmann himself and features a loud, fuzz driven sound underneath Mystery Twins’ trademark co-ed dual vocals. Stephanie Brush pounds out the beat while the pair spell out the tracks theme: T-E-L-E-V-I-S-I (You’re turning me) ON! The B-side is a cover of Wreckless Eric’s "Whole Wide World". Mystery Twins harmony vocal style shines bright on this track, pairing their sensibilities perfectly with this ragged pop classic.
